Sermon Tom Hamilton (1-27-18)
We don’t get out of this alive. What are the most important things in your life?
Looking at the Bible we see Adam introduced sin into the world.
“And
the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden
you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil
you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely
die.””
Genesis 2:16-17 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/gen.2.16-17.nkjv
“If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait, Till my change comes.”
Job 14:14 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/job.14.14.nkjv
“For
the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they
have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten.”
Ecclesiastes 9:5 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/ecc.9.5.nkjv
“And
as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so
Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly
wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for
salvation.”
Hebrews 9:27-28 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/heb.9.27-28.nkjv
“Whoever
commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you
know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is
no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither
seen Him nor known Him.”
I John 3:4-6 NKJV

“As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;”
Romans 3:10 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/rom.3.10.nkjv
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Romans 3:23 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/rom.3.23.nkjv
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/rom.6.23.nkjv
There is good news and a way out. That is Jesus Christ. He paid the price for us.
“Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.””
Matthew 16:16 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/mat.16.16.nkjv
“For
He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the
Spirit by measure. The Father loves the Son, and has given all things
into His hand. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he
who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God
abides on him.””
John 3:34-36 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/jhn.3.34-36.nkjv
“that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:15-16 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/jhn.3.15-16.nkjv
“Now
when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and
the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then
Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your
children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will
call.” And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying,
“Be saved from this perverse generation.” Then those who gladly
received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls
were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’
doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then
fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through
the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in
common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among
all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the
temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with
gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with
all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were
being saved.”
Acts 2:37-47 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/act.2.37-47.nkjv
God is calling these people.
“For
by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;
it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we
are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God
prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:8-10 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/eph.2.8-10.nkjv
“Nevertheless
death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned
according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of
Him who was to come. But the free gift is not like the offense. For if
by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the
gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.”
Romans 5:14-15 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/rom.5.14-15.nkjv
“Then
they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and
glory. And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect
from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest
part of heaven.”
Mark 13:26-27 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/mrk.13.26-27.nkjv
“For
if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring
with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of
the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord
will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself
will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel,
and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them
in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be
with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
I Thessalonians 4:14-18 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/1th.4.14-18.nkjv
“Now
this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom
of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a
mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a
moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet
will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be
changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal
must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on
incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be
brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in
victory.” “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your
victory?””
I Corinthians 15:50-55 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/1co.15.50-55.nkjv
“But
thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always
abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in
vain in the Lord.”
I Corinthians 15:57-58 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/1co.15.57-58.nkjv
“But
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is
no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its
passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the
Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one
another.”
Galatians 5:22-26 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/gal.5.22-26.nkjv
“But
seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these
things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for
tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its
own trouble.”
Matthew 6:33-34 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/mat.6.33-34.nkjv
““Do
not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not
come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven
and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from
the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least
of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the
kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be
called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say to you, that unless
your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and
Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 5:17-20 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/mat.5.17-20.nkjv
“And
whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments
and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His
commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ
and love one another, as He gave us commandment.”
I John 3:22-23 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/1jn.3.22-23.nkjv
“What
shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?
Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do
you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were
baptized into His death?”
Romans 6:1-3 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/rom.6.1-3.nkjv
“You
therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you
also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of
the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.”
II Peter 3:17-18 NKJV
http://bible.us/114/2pe.3.17-18.nkjv
In
conclusion what is the most important thing for us to do in this life
before we die? To repent and be baptized. After that live as righteously
as you can. Seek God. Follow Christ.
